We start with clothes. If it's clothes, then Sarojini Nagar market comes first. This is the place where you can do a shopping fest with little money. An American Eagle denim for Rs 200 can really bring a wide grin on your face. Beautiful T-shirts are yours for just Rs 100.
It is one of the busiest markets in Delhi known for fashionable clothes at affordable prices. If you are willing to roam around and bargain, you could get the best deal in town.
With the winter setting in, the market is flooded with sweaters and jackets. Shawls, pullovers and blazers are plenty. Pastel colours are in good demand, say traders.
Someone wanting to stand out from the crowd may choose pink, purple and magenta. Fur products are also available. Earlier the market was known as Bina Nagar and Vinay Nagar, but now it is known after Sarojini Naidu.
The market is divided into five parts - old tree lane, Babu market, subzi market, central market and mandir-wali side. The explosion that took place on the eve of Diwali in 2005 had raised doubts about safety at the market. However, even now, it is the most favourite shopping place for the city's youth.
How to reach: Metro: Sarojini Nagar station is on the Pink lane. Take the no.1 gate to the market. Timing: 10 am to 9 pm. Monday holiday.
Caution: It is a busy market. Pickpockets are plenty. So, take care of your bags and other valuables.
