Kerala Budget 2025 to be presented on February 7

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Finance Minister KN Balagopal is all set to present the state's budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 at 9 am on Friday, February 7. The 2025-26 Budget Session in the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly, which began on January 17, will extend till March 28.
The upcoming budget is expected to focus on accelerating the state's growth trajectory, introducing innovative investment models and maintaining robust welfare spending.
In his inaugural policy address at the onset of the budget session, Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar had highlighted the financial challenges Kerala faces, particularly due to the cessation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) compensation.
Budget Session
Feb 10-12: The legislative schedule outlines that discussions on the general Budget will take place on February 10, 11 and 12 following Balagopal’s presentation.
Feb 13: On February 13, the assembly will deliberate on the final batch of supplementary grants for the 2024-25 Budget.
Feb 14- Mar 2: Following this, there will be a recess, allowing various subject committees to scrutinise the Budget proposals in detail.
March 4 to 26: The House will engage in department-wise discussions on the Budget proposals.
March 28: The session is slated to conclude on March 28.
