Thorough with market mantra, Aditya Ganguli heads AI wing of Tata Nexarc

Tata Group’s Aditya Ganguli belongs to the school of entrepreneurs who believe the three most important things for a startup are ‘market, market and market’. He learned the lesson the hard way as he had to shut up his own startup, Vedak, which he had envisaged to be an Uber for business consultants.
“Vedak was in a market which only consultants and investors found useful; we couldn’t go beyond that,” he has confessed in a blog he penned in 2022, a year after shutting his venture. The ‘market mantra’ he has listed among eight lessons he learned from his startup experience.
Ganguli is among those who learn from their mistakes and move forward with the confidence gained even from failures. No wonder he is now heading the Data Science and AI wing of Tata Nexarc. The company offers a B2B digital platform which provides affordable solutions to help founders overcome business challenges and accelerate growth.
At Nexarc, Ganguli builds analytics and data science toolkit for Tata Business Hub, which he calls the super app for MSMEs. Before that, he was leading analytics and data science at Xiaomi, where his team built recommendation systems, visibility analytics and customer sentiment even before the ChatGPT era.
He has significant experience in building for MSMEs, including a graph database-driven approach to finding new leads (both supply and demand), price prediction for construction materials and demand forecasting for traders. He has also worked on building fine-tuned LLMs with a focus on vernacular and government schemes for MSMEs.
An alumnus of IIM Calcutta, he cut his teeth at Kearney and Myntra before venturing into entrepreneurship and data science. “Through my journey, I’ve honed expertise in business strategy, growth, and partnerships, always aiming to create solutions that deliver measurable social and environmental impact,” he has stated.
Ganguli will be participating in a panel discussion on ‘The Power of Data: Unlocking Insights in the Age of Generative AI’ at the Manorama Online Techspectations 2025.
