Japanese manufacturer Suzuki Motorcycles India Pvt Ltd has launched maxi-scooter Burgman Street in India. Ex-showroom price in Delhi is Rs 68,000. Suzuki has adopted premium pricing for Burgman Street compared to rivals Honda Activa, TVS Jupiter and Hero Maestro.
In international markers, Suzuki Burgman is available with 125 cc to 600 cc engines. In India, it has introduced the Bharat Stage IV compliant 124.3 cc, four-stroke, air-cooled, single overhead camshaft (SOHC) engine for Burgman Street. The single-cylinder engine makes 8.6 bhp at 7,000 rpm and 10.2 Nm of peak torque at 5,000 rpm.
Burgman Street will help Suzuki Motorcycles to strengthen its presence in the 125 cc scooter segment, said Satoshi Uchida, managing director, Suzuki Motorcycles.
Burgman Street is the first maxi-scooter that has hit the Indian roads after Kinetic Blaze. Compared to traditional scooters, Burgman Street gets bigger body shell, large front apron and tall windscreen. Besides, for the first time for a Suzuki scooter, Burgman Street gets LED headlamp. Sporting alloy wheels, the scooter has step-up style single seat.
The scooter also features a multi-function key slot, 21-litre under-seat storage, 12-volt charging socket and LED tail-lamp. It is also the first Suzuki scooter in India to get an all-digital instrument console.
It borrows its engine and chassis from the Access 125. The 110 kg scooter gets telescopic front forks and a mono-shock unit at the rear.
