A girl who became famous during the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, has been sent back to her home in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, by her father. The girl's father took this decision after the viral spread of a video and news featuring the girl, who is said to bear a striking resemblance to Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa. Her father chose to send her home citing the harassment she faced from people seeking to meet her and take videos.
A young girl from a financially backward family in Indore, Madhya Pradesh had travelled to the Maha Kumbh Mela to sell garlands. She frequently visited bustling locations and festivals to sell the garlands. However, in the past few days, she has been unable to engage in her work. The main cause of this situation is the video of hers which went viral. The footage has garnered widespread attention, with remarks such as "she resembles the beauty of the Mona Lisa at the Maha Kumbh Mela, her striking grey eyes are captivating, etc."
As the video gained widespread attention, many people began to visit her to take photos. Consequently, the sale of garlands, which was her livelihood, significantly declined. The girl was seen asking, "Will you not allow me to live?" Additionally, a video is circulating in which she takes the phone from a man attempting to film her while requesting permission to continue her work. Finally, she managed to leave the location where the garlands were sold, hiding her face.
“Are men in India so annoying? This poor family from Madhya Pradesh came to the Mahakumbh Mela with the intention of selling garlands. They are facing significant challenges in protecting their daughter from the men who are following her. Their means of survival is being jeopardized", a video showcasing the girl's plight was shared with the caption. "This is very disturbing. Do not harass her in this manner," said the comments echoing similar sentiments.
