The aromas
While pure oxygen is odourless, oxygen bars offer the air in aromas of cinnamon, peppermint, spearmint, lavender, eucalyptus, lemongrass and vanilla. According to those who run the bar, the eucalyptus aroma is the best to ease the airways of respiratory system. Vanilla aroma can calm you, pepperment can ease nausea, spearment can induce relaxation, lavender can de-stress and lemongrass can evoke happiness, according to those who run oxygen bars. Customers are seated on a comfortable massage chair, passing the air straight to their nose through a tube.

Are oxygen bars safe?
According to the prominent fitness portal Healthline, a 2018 study by The Lancet found proof for risk factors of oxygen therapy. Apparently, it may increase risk of death if given liberally to people with trauma and acute illnesses. Also, the various scents offered can contain aroma oils and this can lead to inflammation of lungs or lipoid pneumonia in some people.
Even when the scents are made from natural plant extracts, there is a risk of mild to severe allergic reactions including nausea, headaches, dizziness, shortness of breath and worsening of asthma. Those who have respiratory conditions like asthma, cystic fibrosis, COPD, heart conditions, other chronic medical conditions and emphysema should consult doctors before taking the service of oxygen bars.
