Dubai-based social media influencer Khalid Al Ameri, who often makes videos based on Kerala festivals, food and culture, recently interviewed actor Mammootty in the UAE.
Khalid, who called it the ‘biggest interview of his life,’ asked Mammootty how the actor stays in shape at his age. The 72-year-old actor, who is often lauded for his efforts to stay in shape, confessed to Khalid that he is ‘irregularly regular’ at the gym. As for his diet, Mammootty said he eats everything but controls portions. “An actor's tool is his body. So, he has to maintain it, it's that simple. I eat everything I like to eat, but not as much as I like to eat,” said Mammootty, referring to portion control.

However, this was not the first time that actor had spoken about portion control as a way of dieting. Mammootty’s fitness instructor Vipin Xavier once said, “Mammukka mostly opts for carbs like millets and oats, which are not insulin-spiking, like rice. He also takes egg and fish for protein and doesn't use whey protein much. Also, he doesn't generally have cheat days and strictly follows his diet.”

Regarding the actor's workouts, Vipin said: “He is genetically gifted with a good physique, and so is his son Dulquer Salmaan. Even with light workouts, they can have a fit body. Still, Mammukka regularly does balanced whole-body fitness routines and his favourite are biceps and triceps workout.”
