Muthanga or nut grass (Cyperus rotundus) is a medicinal plant that is commonly used by homemakers and is seen in the backyard of homes and even on the roadside. Based on its usage it is considered a powerful and wonderful medicine.

It is a tuberous herb that grows abundantly in lowlands, swamps, and field edges. All the synonyms of cloud are names of Muthanga (Jaladam Ambudam Ayodharam Dhanam) etc. This herb has the properties of increasing and purifying breast milk, increasing urine output, reducing fever, stimulating digestion, and solidifies stool.

In Ayurveda, it is an ingredient of most of the herbs used in the treatment of fever. It is an ingredient in Shadanga drink used in drinking water to treat fever.

When used as a milk decoction, it increases the quantity and quality of breast milk. In the above-mentioned Shadanga drink, if you add more Muthanga, it will help in reducing fever.

It also prevents dehydration. Grated Muthanga mixed with honey in small quantities is a first aid for diarrhea in children. Muthanga boiled in goat's milk and given as a milk decoction is useful for all types of diarrheal diseases. This type of medicinal herb obtained from the earth is the strength of Ayurveda. It has no side effects and is also cheap and available in our backyard.
