Bhavith and Ramya, both doctors, are excited to show around their brand-new contemporary mansion at Chevayoor in Kozhikode, Kerala. The couple who leads hectic professional lives wanted a cosy space where they could relax and enjoy some peaceful moments. The house has been designed by combining both traditional architectural features and modern designer elements. The fusion of a sloped roof in multiple layers and a flat roof grand a majestic look to the elevation. Meanwhile, designer cladding, jali works, glass and concrete texturing are used to decorate the elevation. The car porch in the front has a GI truss roof to match the structure.
Designed in 4700 sqft, this palatial house has a sit-out, formal and family living areas, dining space, kitchen with a work area, four bedrooms, consulting room and balcony. The brick cladding adds a rustic tone to the sit-out where in-built benches are arranged. Meanwhile, the interiors are designed in a semi-open style.
Besides granting visual cohesion to the common areas, the semi-open interiors ensure privacy to the dining area and the bedrooms. The consulting room too is away from the view, allowing privacy to the visitors. Plants that require minimal care have been chosen for the landscape. Meanwhile, the fish pond here is a favourite spot for the family where they gather to enjoy their free time.
The formal living area, family living and dining area are arranged in a straight line in the spacious hall. There is an open space with a double-height ceiling between these spaces which helps the interiors look incredibly vaster. Corridors highlighted with unique flooring in various colours and designs are what connect the spaces inside the house.
The family living area has a double-height ceiling where a TV wall has been highlighted using textured concrete finish. A folding door here opens to the beautiful fish pond. Lots of natural light and cool air enter the house when this door is opened.
The patio near the dining space stands out for its ceiling paved with traditional mud tiles and glass, letting in the golden sun rays. Meanwhile, the flooring here is done using Jaisalmer stones to grant a regal look. A hanging cot too has been added here to complement the aesthetics. The couple loves to read while enjoying a refreshing coffee sitting on this hanging cot. The kitchen dons the classic colour combination of green and white. The cabinets here are done in multi wood and the countertop is paved with nano white.
There are four bedrooms on the ground floor and two bedrooms on the upper floor. Each room has been designed in unique themes. Meanwhile, all the bedrooms are bath-attached and have walk-in wardrobes and separate dressing areas. The house glimmers against the twilight sky when the golden highlighter lights are switched on.
