The inverted house in Colombia has been drawing crowds that are baffled by the unique experience. People are vying to take selfies in front of this upside-down house that has now become a sensation on the social media. This house, which is touted as one of the modern architectural wonders, is located at the Guatavita province which is around 70 kilometres away from the capital city of Bogota. It was designed by Fritz Schall, an Austrian who has been living, with family, in Colombia for 22 years.
Schall was inspired to design this inverted house during one of his trips to his homeland in Austria. He had, in fact, found a house like this during a family vacation at Austria in 2015. He was so impressed by the unique concept that he decided to build one for himself. Even though the construction had begun some time ago, the house could be completed only recently. The COVID-19 outbreak had delayed the construction.
Schall says that many had tried to dissuade him when he decided to build an upside-down house. However, he didn’t back down and went ahead with the construction. Some people even called him mad, seeing the design of the house. Meanwhile, some others tried to ‘educate’ him about the practical difficulties of living in an inverted house. However, Fritz Schall overcame all the challenges and oppositions to complete the construction of his dream project.
In this upside-down house, the ceilings are in the place of the floors. The couches and other furniture like the dining table, closets and bath tubs, wall paintings, cots and the TV unit are all fixed onto the ceiling here.
The pandemic has played spoil sport in the lives of many as it destroyed the livelihoods of millions of people. However, people are flocking this interesting house to enjoy the mesmerizing aspects of architecture. Meanwhile, the owner is happy that his unique house is actually helping people relax and have a great time.
