This house in Vallikad near Vadakara, Kerala, is an amazing example of a structure that has undergone massive change in its looks and amenities through simple yet significant renovation works. Interestingly, the house that now looks modern and chic is more than two decades old.
The structure had an arch like elevation just as old two storied houses have. The interiors were congested and didn’t allow enough air circulation. The arch on the elevation was dismantled to solve this problem. Instead, a sloped roof box style elevation has been newly featured. A car porch too has been newly added. Besides, the new balcony adds to the overall look of the house. The exterior walls don textured paint in elegant cream color. All these contributed in altering the look of the house from the outside.
The interior spaces have been made spacious through minor rearrangements. Redundant interior walls have been dismantled to redesign the interiors into semi open style.
Designed in 3300 sqft, this fabulous abode has a car porch, formal and family living areas, dining space, kitchen with work area, four bedrooms, upper living area, study area, balcony and an open terrace.
The interiors are furnished in multi-wood with paint finish. Meanwhile, vitrified tiles in matte finish are paved on the floor. A shaped couch is what adorns the formal living area. Gypsum false ceiling with amazing LED light fittings give spectacular ambience to the interiors.
The majestic spiral stairway is the highlight of the interiors. This area has double heighted ceiling. The family living area, meanwhile, is arranged beneath the stairway to save space. The stairway leads to the upper living area where a study area has been arranged. A wall decorated with jali finish is the highlight here.
All the bedrooms are bath-attached and have in – built wardrobes and separate dressing spaces as well. Tiles in wooden finish are paved on the floor in the bedrooms. Meanwhile, the headboards are highlighted with attractive design elements.
The kitchen cupboards are done in multi wood with PU paint finish. The counter top, meanwhile, has been paved with granite. An adjacent work area completes the kitchen area.
Giving a facelift to the landscape too has helped in altering the overall look of the house. A combination of natural and Kadappa stones have been paved on the front yard. Beautiful lawns and gardens adorn both the sides of the yard. The house looks stunning against the twilight sky when the highlighter lights on the elevation and the landscape are switched on. The family, meanwhile, is excited that their house has had a splendid makeover through simple and smart renovations.
