This colonial-style house in Tirur is an enchanting vision in white

Shahul’s brand new house at Vettom near Tirur in Malappuram, Kerala, is a magnificent structure in white that dons the elegant features of the colonial architecture. Noted architect Salim had designed this fabulous abode that draws instant attention.

Designed in 2900 sq ft area, colonial style abode has a sit-out, family living area, dining space, kitchen with work area, four bedrooms, upper living area and a balcony.

Both the interiors and the exteriors stand out for the serene charm of the white hue. Lots of windows and openings ensure excellent cross ventilation inside the house. The furnishing, meanwhile, is done in marine ply with veneer finish. Vitrified tiles, in white colour, are paved on the floor. The living and the kitchen areas are highlighted using wooden and grey finish. Interesting wooden elements are seen on the gypsum false ceiling as well. The LED lights on it play a vital role in granting a splendid ambience to the spaces.

An elegant L-shaped leather couch is what adorns the formal living area. The wooden flooring is the highlight here. The beautiful stairway designed in the transparent – suspended style is the centre piece of the interiors. This also acts as a semi-partition that separates the living and the dining areas. The handrails, meanwhile, feature the classy combination of glass and metal. The dining table can easily accommodate up to eight guests. The matching chairs complete the chic dining table. This area that has a double-height ceiling lets in lots of natural light and air into the house.

Two bedrooms each are arranged in both the floors. The bath attached bedrooms have in–built wardrobes for storage as well.

The island kitchen is modern and chic. The counter top has been paved with granite. The kitchen cabinets, meanwhile, are done in multi wood with acrylic finish.

There is a rivulet running close to the house from where the cool breeze blows into the house making the interiors extremely pleasant and comfortable.
