Sreekumar and his family, who are settled in Dubai, loves spending their annual holidays at their brand new house in Perumbavoor. They saw the house only when the construction was in its final phase. However, Sreekumar used to communicate with the architect regularly via WhattsApp. Linson Jolly, the designer of the house, says it was Sreekumar’s father who often visited the site to oversee the construction.
The family was very clear that they didn’t prefer beautifying features just for the sake of a luxurious look. Hence, the exteriors of the house feature simple designs that are elegant and classy. A special area with glass roofing and CNC works is visible from the exteriors. This space in fact is the highlight of the house. The beautiful views of the nearby paddy fields could be enjoyed from this area. Toughened glass is paved on GI pipes to make the roof here. This is the liveliest spot in the house as the family loves spending time here.
From the sit-out, one can enter the foyer space. The living area is arranged to the right side of the foyer. Seating arrangements where up to six persons could be comfortably accommodated are arranged here. The splash of pleasant hues from the couch, cushions, wall paper and painting make this space extremely beautiful.
The interiors are designed based on the theme of minimalism. There is a small counter which connects the kitchen and the dining area. The dining space too is designed giving prime importance to utility and comfort.
The wash counter is arranged beneath the stairway. There is a family living area and two bedrooms in the upper storey. Besides, there are two more bedrooms in the ground floor. One could enter the balcony from the upper living area.
The bedrooms are designed with perfect features which add a classy elegance and clean look to it. The beautifully designed headrests are the highlights of the bedrooms. Wardrobe units are arranged for storage in all the bedrooms that are bath-attached as well. The interiors aren’t overcrowded with unnecessary decor or furniture.
The house has been surrounded by paddy fields and the family had thought that the dwelling place would get flooded during monsoon. However, the flood waters didn’t enter the house either in last year’s deluge or this year's rain fury. The plot where the house stands was raised considerably to a higher level than the surrounding areas. So, even when the road in front of the house was flooded, water didn’t gush inside.
