A house in Kannur that brims with beauty and serenity

Vijayan, a bank employee in Bahrain and his wife Smitha had bought 3 acres of land in Chettipeedika, one of the prime locations in Kannur, to spend their retired life in a beautiful house built here. The value of the land had amazingly increased by the time the couple decided to construct a house in this plot which is covered with lush greenery and has continuous availability of clean water.

Though many approached them to buy the land, realizing its incredible market value, Vijayan was not ready to sell it off. He was determined to build his dream dwelling there. He approached architect Sreekant Pangapadu to design a house in the traditional style with abundant supply of natural light and fresh air.

The house designed in 2000 sq ft has three bath-attached bedrooms, formal and family living areas, dining space, a modern kitchen with a work area, sit-out and a car porch. GI truss work is done over flat roof and is paved with roofing tiles. This feature has transformed the entire terrace into a spacious utility area.

The cross design of the hall is the most stunning feature of this house. This unique feature ensures excellent ventilation besides offering incredible views of the lush greenery around the house. The central courtyard welcomes lots of pleasant sun shine and refreshing breeze in to the interiors.

A beautiful stairway inside the house connects both the floors. Vijayan and Smitha are proud about their brand new house from where they can enjoy the charm of nature and the thrilling city life as well.
