Rs 33-lakh house in Kozhikode excels in luxury, design

Everyone dreams of building an elegant house, with all the necessary facilities, that too without burning a hole in the pocket. The 1650 sq ft house stands regally on 5.25 cents plot in Meenchanta, Kozhikode, Kerala. One can enter the plot from two directions. So the exteriors of the house are designed in such a way that it offers different views from all sides.

Prabhakaran, his wife Kumari and 2 sons wanted a comfortable home with 4 bedrooms on the plot which was acquired as family inheritance. Their dream finally took shape when their elder son Prabeesh landed a job abroad. It was Prabeesh’s friend Sajeendran who designed this elegant house. The construction of the house was completed in just 10 – 11 months.

There are two bath attached bedrooms on each floor. Besides, there is a sit-out, living and dining areas, balcony and kitchen in this house which is designed in the contemporary style. The construction of the structure was completed in April last year, within a budget of Rs 33 lakhs. After the completion of the structure, the interiors of the house were decorated in minimal style.

From the sit-out, one can enter the living area which is designed in double height. This feature helps the area look vast and spacious. Plywood and veneer partition is used to separate the living and dining areas. The vertical pergola, on the double height roof, lets lots of pleasant natural light into the house.

The wall near the wash area and the one behind the sofa in the living room are highlighted by pasting beautiful wall paper. Instead of hand rails, steel ropes are used in the first portion of the stairway. The ends of these ropes are attached on the steps and on a slab upstairs. The second portion of the stairway, after the first landing, is secured with steel hand rails.
