This house is a perfect blend of beauty, tradition and vastu

This elaborate ‘naalukettu’ (traditional Kerala house with inner courtyards) built by diligently following the vastu rules emanates the elegant charm of the traditional architecture. The house gloriously stands on a sprawling one-and-half acres of land. This house, with an area of 4015 sq ft, faces towards North and is located in such a way giving a spacious backyard.

There is a padipura or a gateway from the road and also another entrance, in the North West direction, which leads to the car porch. Long verandahs and the pillars adorned with intricate designs give a unique old world charm for the exteriors.

The sit-out, in front of the verandah, have sitting spaces with elaborate back–rests made with teak wood. There are openings, crafted in hard rock, on both sides of the sit-out, facing east and west directions. One could enter the formal living space from the verandah. The wooden entrance door is decorated with beautiful carvings and is attached with a ‘mangalapalaka’ (a good luck charm).

The formal living space is vast and spacious with wooden flooring. Elegant furniture which perfectly complements the design completes the space. The courtyard is the most striking feature in the interiors of this house. The space around the courtyard is beautified by paving granite on the floor. An elaborate wood-work with exquisite designs adorns the upper part of the courtyard.

The dining space is on the left side of the courtyard. The adjacent open kitchen has lots of cabinets made in teak wood. An island kitchen too has been designed here. The staircase boasts of detailed carvings in traditional designs done on wood.
