Miya George has charmed the Malayali audience with quiet a handful of endearing roles. Now the actress has crossed the language borders and made a mark for herself in other industries as well. Miya, who has always nurtured vivid dreams about her abode from childhood itself, is happy and proud to show around her brand new house at Pravithanam, in the Pala – Thodupuzha route. The elegant single storied house which highlights the features of the traditional architectural style perfectly reflects the beauty of its bucolic surroundings.

Flashback

Miya and her family had lived, for years, in a double storied house which had four bedrooms. The family had purchased that house when they moved from Mumbai to settle down in their hometown in Kerala. The house, however, had space constraints and hardly received natural light or fresh air. It was the unpleasant memories and experiences of having lived in a house constructed according to the taste of someone else which motivated the family to build a house which accommodates their dreams. They were also determined that the new house should be constructed by strictly following the vastu rules.

Architect K Anilkumar, owner of the Guideline Designers and Engineers at Koothattukulam, had designed this house by projecting the simplicity and elegance of white color theme. Besides, white is Miya’s favorite color which she preferred for her dream dwelling.

Elevation

The ideas for the new house were mainly sprung from the experiences that the family had had while staying in their old house. This was also the main reason why they decided to build their new house based on the vastusastra. Miya and her mother had been worried about the main road in the south direction, ever since they bought the plot at Pravithanam. They were skeptical whether they could construct a house in that plot. However, after a year of heartfelt prayers and meticulous planning, the family decided to build a house there. It was Anilkumar’s suggestion that the house could have three entrances facing the south, east and west directions.

Formal living

The main entrance door opens to the formal living area. Miya had insisted, while drawing the plan, that the formal living area should be designed in such a way that it wouldn’t affect the privacy of the family members. The space amazingly highlights the elegance of minimalism. The false ceiling is designed as per the arrangement of the centralized air conditioning system.

The beauty of the minimal style can be seen in the rest of the interiors as well. The prayer area is arranged close to the spacious family living cum dining area. The old house didn’t have a special prayer area. As Miya and her family are ardent believers, they were firm in their decision that there should be an elegant prayer area in the new house, where they could feel the grace of the divine presence. The prayer area stands out for its beautiful wood works where the idols are arranged with devotion.
