Since time immemorial houses have evolved from being a mere roof over the head to dwellings where people enjoy comfort and happiness. Early men who used to live in the caves began to build houses using wood or bamboo when they entered the forest as hunters. Later, the houses became more elaborate and comfortable when settlements emerged as a result of the discovery of agriculture.

A video uploaded in the popular YouTube channel ‘Primitive Jungle Life’ features a man building a house from scratch using just wood, bamboo and mud. Thousands of viewers have already watched the video and it is garnering likes and shares on the social media as well.

The man in the video prepares the ground to build the foundation. He collects the wood and bamboo to build the house from the forest. First the pillars are erected with tree trunks, and the roof is made using sticks and bamboo. Walls too are built by placing horizontal layers of bamboo pieces. Creepers are used to tie these bamboo pieces.

Plastering

Mud is mixed with water to make a concrete like consistency. Creepers and grass are mixed with this to make it more durable. The roof and the walls are plastered using this mud mixture.

Cladding

Bamboo pieces are pasted on the wet mud plastering on the wall as claddings. This adds to the charm of the house and makes it look closer to the nature.

The swimming pool on the roof is the most striking feature of this unique house. The structure of the pool is made with the previously prepared mud mixture and lined with bamboo pieces. The man fetches water from the nearby stream to fill the roof top swimming pool.
