Most people, especially youngsters, shampoo their hair at least once a week. This practice not only costs a lot of money but also involves the use of potentially harmful chemicals. But what if we can make our own shampoo at home? It may be hard to believe, but onions can be used to make a nourishing shampoo. Onions are beneficial for strengthening the hair from the roots and promoting growth. They also help in moisturizing the hair and maintaining its natural black colour. Additionally, onions are also good for getting rid of dandruff.
Ingredients
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup sulphate-free shampoo base
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 10 drops of tea tree oil
Preparation
To begin, heat water in a bowl and add the chopped onion to it. Allow it to boil until the onion softens. Once softened, remove from heat and allow it to cool. Now, strain the mixture thoroughly. In a separate bowl, combine the shampoo base, coconut oil, olive oil, and honey, and mix it well. Gradually add the prepared onion juice in small portions. Do not forget to stir continuously to avoid lumps. Finally, add the tea tree oil and transfer the mixture into a clean bottle. It is recommended to store this shampoo in the refrigerator.
How to use
After applying this shampoo, it is advisable to massage your scalp well for some time. Then rinse your hair completely. Remember to apply conditioner after using the shampoo. Make sure to use it at least twice a week. You can now achieve thick, black hair.
