Onam is a festival season that heralds new trends in attire too. It's a time when fashion blooms in traditional Kerala Kasavu attire. Every Onam, dazzling designs emerge in Kasavu clothing and each design takes countless hours to create. This time, designer Saritha Jayasurya has come up with a new design she crafted for an Onam Kasavu sari and shared on Instagram the story behind its creation.
The video begins with Saritha pondering over what design to draw on the Kasavu sari for this Onam. Jayasurya is also present in the video, asking if she has found any inspiration. Finally, the video showcases her creating a beautiful floral design on the Kasavu sari, drawing from the nostalgic memories of Malayalis.
“There was a time when we gathered flowers from around our house to adorn our courtyards during onam. Simple yet elegant, most commonly the 'chembarathi petals' in circular formations, authentic patterns reflective of joyous hearts that made them...” Saritha posted on Instagram handle.
“Onam edit 2024 is born from these happy, nostalgic memories of those days. Our collection showcases embroidered chembarathi petals with golden zari works forming a pookalam design on our traditional kerala saree /salwar /Lehanga and also exclusive designs for Men's to complete that traditional look,” Saritha Jayasurya explains introducing the new design.
Saritha shared the video with this caption. The video has already garnered numerous views.
