When Alejandra Marisa Rodriguez won the title of Miss Universe for the province of Buenos Aires, she was not only making a statement but engraving her name in the record books. Meanwhile, it highlighted the Miss Universe beauty pageant's commitment to inclusivity.
The 60-year-old lawyer-journalist, who broke the barriers with her hard work and resilience, exuded her talent and epitomised the essence of beauty in contemporary standards. Rodriguez, hailing from La Plata, the capital city of Argentina's Buenos Aires Province, thus becomes the first woman of her age to bag this kind of beauty crown and is now hogging the headlines across the world for this rare feat.
After the win, she told the media, "I am thrilled to be representing this new paradigm in beauty pageants because we are inaugurating a new stage in which women are not only physical beauty but another set of values."
She is now preparing for selection to the Miss Universe Argentina and if successful she will be featured in the Miss Universe World Contest slated for September 28, 2024, in Mexico. This will only extend the laurels of her being an exceptional figure in the domain of beauty and feminine diligence.
Earlier, women between the age of 18-28 were able to enter the competition. Last year, the Miss Universe Organization had dissolved the upper age limit for contestants participating in the beauty pageant. Any woman above the age of 18 is now eligible to take part in the competition.
