Make crispy, soft poori in a flash with no water
Mail This Article
Soft, fluffy, and perfectly puffed pooris combined with spicy hot potato masala curry for breakfast is an absolute delight. But a few would still want to avoid poori in their diet in consideration of its high oil content.
Making the dish is also not that easy as it requires a lot of processes, from kneading to rolling out. Hence, in many households, pooris are usually made only on holidays.
But you can also make pooris in a flash. It requires no kneading, either. And there is a twist to the story; here the dish is prepared by adding some boiled rice to the dough. It not only makes the dish crispy, but fluffy and puffy as well, as in restaurants. This novel, yet interesting recipe has been shared on the social media page ‘Dians Kannur Kitchen’.
Ingredients
2 cups of boiled rice, leftover from the previous day
1 ½ cups of wheat flour
3 tablespoons of rava
Salt (as required)
Preparation
Put all the above ingredients into a bowl and mix well
Now, put the same into a mixer jar after seasoning with some oil
Make sure the mix is added gradually and not in one go
Pulse the mix to make the dough
If the dough becomes sticky, add a teaspoon of wheat flour or boiled rice to adjust consistency
Now, take a portion of the dough, make it into small balls, and roll it out
Heat some oil in a pan and deep fry the same till they turn golden brown on both sides
The crispy, soft, light, and puffed-up poori is ready to be served hot
