Jam cookies or thumbprint cookies can be easily made at home using a few ingredients. These homemade cookies are packed with sweetness and are the best snacks to munch on during play breaks and fun holidays. You can enjoy these with tea or pack as snacks for kids’ picnics, as well.

Ingredients
160 gms butter
50 gms powdered sugar
1 egg yolk
½ tsp vanilla essence
¼ tsp salt
220 gms all purpose flour
Jam as required

Preparation
Mix butter and powdered sugar
Into it add egg yolk, vanilla essence and salt
Mix well
Now add the all purpose flour
Mix for at least two minutes using your fingers
Keep the dough in the fridge for at least twenty minutes
Make small balls from the dough
Press in the centre of each ball using your thumb or a spoon
Now add any jam of your choice in the small hole in the centre
Bake for 15 – 20 minutes in a preheated oven of 170 degrees
Delicious jam cookies are ready

Note
There is no need to overmix the dough
You could use jam of any flavour
If the dough is too soft, keep in the fridge for longer
Make sure to cover the dough before keeping it in fridge; else it would get dry.
