Unni ada is a local snack that is incredibly softer and delicious. Besides, it is a healthy evening snack as it is steamed, not fried in oil. Here is how to make unni ada at home.

Ingredients
2 cups of rice flour
1 cup of all purpose flour
A pinch of salt
2 cups or 250 gms of jaggery
4 cardamom pods
1 cup of coconut shards
4 tsp sesame seeds
½ tsp baking powder
3 ripe bananas

Preparation
Mix the rice powder with the all purpose flour, a pinch of salt and baking powder
Meanwhile, take jaggery syrup, sesame seeds, cardamom and ripe bananas in a mixer jar
Blend well into smooth paste
Add this mixture into the dry ingredients
Add the coconut shards too
Mix well
Pour the batter on plantain leaf and spread nicely
Fold the leaf
Cook these in an idli steamer
Enjoy unni ada with hot black tea.
