Though the name might conjure up images of various forms of delicious cakes, ironically it has nothing to do with cakes. Crab cakes are essentially cutlets made of crab. A quintessential American dish, off late this delicacy, is very popular in Kerala as well. If you are someone who loves seafood and especially crabs, you should definitely sample crab cakes. And it is very easy to make too. They are usually available at Goan restaurants and a few restaurants in Kovalam. Typically served as an appetizer, it is made with mayonnaise and various kind of sauces and breadcrumbs and pan-fried. Some even opt for baking or deep frying as well. You can prepare the cutlets and store them in the fridge. One can use canned crab meat to make crab cakes. But make sure only to use the meat. If you are using fresh crab meat, make sure to drain all the water before making it cutlets.

Ingredients
1 cup crabmeat
¼ cup mayonnaise
1 tbsp mustard sauce
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp red chilli sauce
1 egg
Salt to taste
1 tbsp pepper powder
Breadcrumbs
2 tsp coriander leaves

Preparation
In a bowl, add egg, sauces, mayonnaise, salt, and pepper and nicely blend
Now add the meat, breadcrumbs, and coriander leaves and shape them into oval-shaped patties (shape can be according to your preference)
Now fry it in oil.
