Spicy masala bonda with soft potato filling is a tea time snack that could be easily made at home. Here is the recipe.

Ingredients
2 potatoes
¾ cup gram flour
¼ cup wheat flour / all purpose flour
1 onion
3 green chilies
1 small piece ginger
½ tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp urad dal
¼ tsp turmeric powder
Curry leaves
¼ tsp asafetida powder
Salt as required
Oil to fry

Preparation
Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan
Splutter the mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves
Sauté crushed ginger and green chilies
Into it add finely chopped onion
Sauté until the raw smell is gone
Now add boiled and mashed potatoes
Add turmeric powder and salt as required
Mix well
Cook for some time
Allow this mixture to cool down
Make small balls from it
Mix gram flour, wheat flour/ all purpose flour, salt and a pinch of turmeric powder in a bowl
Pour enough water and mix into loose batter
Now add ¼ tsp asafetida powder too
Mix well
Dip the potato balls in this batter
Fry them in hot oil until golden in color
Enjoy the masala bonda with tomato ketchup or coriander chutney.
