This tasty and healthy breakfast dish is very popular in Tamil Nadu. Here is how to prepare yoghurt upma.
Ingredients
1 cup roasted semolina
1 ¾ cups beaten yoghurt
1 small piece ginger (finely chopped)
2 green chillies (chopped)
½ tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp urad dal
1 ½ tsp yellow lentils
1 tsp peanuts
1 red chilli
2 tbsp oil
A pinch of asafoetida
Salt as required
Curry leaves
Preparation
Into the roasted semolina add salt and some yoghurt
Mix well using your palms
Add the remaining yoghurt
Mix well into loose batter
Keep aside for at least 10 minutes
Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds and urad dal
Roast the yellow lentils, peanuts and dry chilli
Now add asafetida, ginger and green chillies
Sauté well
Pour in the semolina batter
Stir continuously until the water reduces and upma turns a bit dry
Enjoy the soft yoghurt upma while it is hot.
