Shallots theeyal is a thick and spicy gravy that tastes amazing with rice or chapthi. Check out the pretty easy recipe of Ulli (shallots) theeyal.

Ingredients
1 ½ cups grated coconut
1 cup shallots
3 green chillies (split)
2 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp coriander powder
¼ tsp turmeric powder
2 pinches fenugreek powder
Gooseberry sized ball of tamarind
2 sprigs curry leaves
2 tsp coconut oil
2 cups of water
Salt as required

Preparation
Soak the tamarind in ¼ cup water 
Dry roast the grated coconut with 3 chopped shallots and a sprig of curry leaves until they turn dark brown
Grind this mixture after it has cooled down
Heat 2 tsp coconut oil in a thick bottomed vessel
Splutter the mustard seeds 
Sauté the shallots, green chillies, curry leaves and salt for 2 minutes
Into it add the ground coconut mix, tamarind water and water as required
Mix well and boil until the gravy thickens up
Turn off the flame when the oil begins to separate
Tasty shallots theeyal is ready.
