This tasty black chickpeas roast tastes amazing with rice, chapathi, puri or roti. Interestingly, it could be easily made in a pressure cooker. Here is the recipe.

Ingredients
1 cup black chickpeas
2 small onions
1 tomato
10 cloves garlic
1 inch piece of ginger
4 green chillies
½ tsp turmeric powder
Salt as required
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 tsp mustard seeds
2 dried chillies
Curry leaves
½ cup shallots
¼ cup coconut shards
1 tsp chilli powder
2 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp crushed peppercorns
1 tsp fennel powder

Preparation
Wash the black chickpeas and soak them for at least 8 hours or overnight
Pressure cook the soaked black chickpeas with onion slices, tomato, ginger, garlic, turmeric powder, salt and 1 cup water until 5 whistles
Meanwhile, heat 1 tbsp coconut oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds
Roast dried chillies, curry leaves, shallots and coconut shards
Add the chilli powder, coriander powder and fennel powder when the coconut shards are brown in colour
Sauté well until the raw smell of the powders are gone
Now add the cooked black chickpeas
Roast well on low flame
Sprinkle crushed peppercorns
Delicious roasted black chickpeas is ready.
