The elaborate sadya is an unavoidable part of the Onam festivities. The various food blogs and groups on the social media have been vying to come up with unique recipes to add a modern twist to the traditional sadya. The group De Chef Foodies shared an interesting recipe of plum pulissery on their page which is garnering ‘likes’ from the sadya lovers. Check out the simple recipe of plum pulissery.

Ingredients
3 plums
7-8 raisins
¼ cup yoghurt
¼ cup grated coconut
2 green chillies
¼ tsp cumin
¼ tsp pepper
½ tsp turmeric powder
¼ tsp chilli powder
½ tsp mustard seeds
¼ tsp fenugreek
Curry leaves
1 tbsp coconut oil
Salt as required

Preparation
Wash the plums and cut into pieces
Into an earthen vessel add the plum pieces, raisins, water, turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt as required
Boil them
Grind the grated coconut with green chillies, cumin, pepper and some water
Add the coconut paste into the boiling plum mix
Into it add the beaten yoghurt and some sugar as well
Cook for some more time until the gravy reduces a bit
Heat coconut oil in a pan
Splutter mustard seeds and fenugreeks
Roast curry leaves
Add this tempering into the plum pulissery
Mix well.
