Most people like to start their day by sipping on hot coffee for that amazing doze of energy. There have been debates about whether coffee is good for health or not. However, researchers point out that having coffee in minimal quantity has many health benefits besides making you feel energetic.
The caffeine in coffee is excellent for heart health and promotes blood circulation. Coffee contains anti oxidants like magnesium, potassium and vitamin E which is amazing for health.
Komal Malik, the head dietician at the Asian Hospital in Faridabad says that consuming coffee minimally can ease hyper tension and can increase concentration and boost energy levels too. Coffee can apparently influence human beings’ mental state. The dietician says that sipping on hot coffee is the best way to beat the blues.
Meanwhile, Daljith Kaur, the chief nutritionist at New Delhi’s Fortis Escort Heart Institute calls coffee a mood lifter. She explains that coffee contains polyphenol that can reduce swelling. Moreover, coffee is an excellent beverage to enjoy if you are trying to shed some extra kilos.
Healthy dose
Studies show that a healthy person can consume up to two to three cups coffee in a day. However, Daljith Kaur warns against consuming too much coffee. One cup coffee contains 100 mg caffeine. So, if you drink five or seven cups coffee, then around 700 mg caffeine will reach your body. She says that up to 2000 mg caffeine could reach the body of a person who is a heavy coffee drinker. This could cause diseases and over anxiety. Moreover, over consumption of coffee could cause fertility issues in women.
Right amount
Adding milk in coffee would increase the calorie intake. However, Komal Malik says that those who are interested in consuming milk coffee can continue that. But, she advices to use the double toned or skimmed milk that have less calories. It is better to enjoy a nice cup of black coffee. Komal says that avoiding sugar or full fat milk is the best way to enjoy coffee in a healthy way.
