The veteran playback singer was invited to pose for selfies with his fans during a live concert after singing his super hit song 'Tip Tip Barsa Paani' from the movie 'Mohra'. The singer could be seen leaning close to his fans and kissing them on their cheeks and also brushing his lips with theirs. The video has sparked controversy with many calling out the musician's actions. Some people said Udit needs to learn to respect women, especially those younger to him. Others also were disappointed by the singer's actions and hoped the video was AI-generated and not real.

Google Trends data shows this incident has been trending for a while. Udit, however, responded to the backlash during an interview with Times of India. He also said the video was from a concert that was held in the USA several months ago and alleged there were concerted efforts to destroy his reputation. "There is a deep, pure, and unbreakable bond between me and my fans. What you saw in that scandalous video is a manifestation of love between me and my fans. If you see something dirty in an act of pure affection, then I feel sorry for them. I am not at all ashamed or apologetic.”

He further said, ” Why did these clips suddenly resurface months after the live show happened in the US? I doubt it’s a malicious attempt to ruin my reputation. I want to tell my haters that I will only rise no matter how hard they try to pull me down.”
