Acclaimed sound designer Resul Pookutty recalled his association with Bhavagayakan P Jayachandran for his movie 'Otta', which hit theatres in 2023. According to Resul, 'Peyneer Pole' composed by M Jayachandran for his movie was the veteran singer's last soulful rendition. “I am so glad that I was able to introduce the song through Jayachandran sir, who gave us a track no one will forget. Peyneer Pole was Jayachandran sir's last soulful rendition and I am blessed that he was part of the movie. I grew up listening to his voice in the radio,” he told Onmanorama. Resul who has been nominated for the 72nd Annual MPSE Golden Reel Awards for his work in 'Aadujeevitham' said Jayachandran himself had maintained that 'Peyneer Pole' was the best song he sang in his career spanning 50 years.

Meanwhile, music composer M Jayachandran also penned a heartfelt note, remembering his 'dearest brother and inspiration' on Instagram. “P. Jayachandran, one of the greatest singers of our times. To me, he was simply and profoundly Jayettan—my dearest brother, my anchor, my inspiration. From my earliest days, I was captivated by his mellifluous voice, a voice that was not merely beautiful but transcendental—Madhu Madhuram in its purest essence.

I can still hear him calling me 'Kuttaa,' the affectionate bond we shared immortalized in that single word. Just five days ago, he spoke to me from his hospital bed, his voice frail yet laden with the weight of love and struggle: 'Kuttaa….enikku vayya.'

His faith never wavered, always invoking 'Krishna, Guruvayoorappa' with a heart brimming with devotion, even in his most trying moments. Looking back now, I am flooded with memories that blur the lines of time. There were days when Jayettan’s embrace carried the warmth of infinite love, moments when our differences created silence, and countless days in the studio where his divine voice transported me to realms untouched by this world. And then, there were those magical hours when he would sing for me—rendering timeless gems of Rafi Saab, Susheela Amma, and Das Sir with an effortless grace that only he possessed.

Jayettan wasn’t merely a singer; he remains an emotion. The countless songs he gifted to this world will forever ring in our ears, an eternal echo of his soul. Today, as I sit in the deafening silence of his absence, I realize that I will never again hear him call out, “Kuttaa…..”

Jayetta, as I write this, my heart aches, my eyes well up, and disbelief clouds every thought. How does one bid farewell? I cannot, and I will not. You have merely journeyed to another plane, one that is perhaps quieter, more serene, and closer to divinity.

Rest in peace, my beloved Jayetta!! You are beyond time, beyond parting, and beyond forgetting. I carry you in my heart, in my music, and in every whisper of the wind that hums your melodies. Love you, Jayetta, eternally,” he concluded.
