Two Indian films‘Band of Maharajas,’ and ‘Putul’ are in the race for the Best Original Song at the Academy Awards 2025. ‘Band of Maharajas’, a musical film directed by Girish Malik, has entered the primary list in two categories. While ‘Ishq Walla Daku’ is competing in the Best Song category, the film’s original score by Bickram Ghosh is also competing in a separate category. The song by Sayan Ganguly from director Indira Dhur’s Bengali film‘Putul’ is also in the race for the Best Original Song at the Oscars.
‘Band of Maharajas’ by Girish Malik tells the inspiring and emotional story of three young musicians from a small border village in Punjab. Director Indira’s ‘Putul’ made history at the Cannes Film Festival this year by premiering under the Marche Du Film category.
