“People have been wondering how I managed to shed so much weight. Most of them believe that I underwent surgery. But, that is not the truth. I weighed 230 kgs when my doctor in London warned me about my rising body weight. He told me that my parents would find me dead in a hotel room, within six months, if I continued to stay like that. My father too was there when the doctor said this. That evening, he spoke to me quite emotionally. My father had been with me through out my journey. He had supported me when I struggled and when I was happy too. He had never asked me for anything. But, that day he told, ‘I have a request; it must be you who should perform my last rites. Do not make me bury you. No father wishes to perform the last rites of his child’.

"His words moved me to tears. It was at that moment that I had decided to reduce my body weight. I promised him that I would do anything to shed my body weight. I flew to Texas to consult a nutritionist. She completely altered my lifestyle. Slowly, my weight began to get reduced. I worked really hard until I could shed around 130 kilos. Even now, I follow a lifestyle prescribed by my nutritionist. I plan to continue that for the rest of my life too,” says Adnan Sami.
