A slew of events marked the Mazhavil Music Awards 2022 event, organised by Mazhavil Manorama. The gala affair, which would be aired on December 24-25, was attended by the who's who of the music world.

Lyricist and composer Sreekumaran Thampi received the Lifetime Achievement award for his contributions to various films in Malayalam. Singers P Jayachandran, K S Chithra, Sujatha Mohan, G Venugopal, Vijay Yesudas, Swetha Mohan and Sharreth gave away the memento to the veteran composer and film director during the event.

Every year, Mazhavil Manorama recognises talented singers and musicians who made significant contributions to the entertainment industry in Kerala.

Here is the list of musicians chosen for various awards:

Golden Voice

G Venugopal

Playback singer G Venugopal was chosen for the 'Golden Voice' award for his work in various Mollywood films. Venugopal, who is also related to Sujatha Mohan, has rendered several hit songs in Mollywood.

Special Jury award

Praseetha Chalakkudi, known for her peppy folk numbers sung in her unconventional voice, received the Mazhavil Music Special Jury award. She was nominated for the song 'Ollulleru' from the movie 'Ajagajantharam' directed by Tinu Pappachan. Noted pianist and musician Stephen Devassy presented the award.

Young Voice

Abhijith Anilkumar

Abhijith Anilkumar who crooned 'Yaathonnum Parayathe' and 'Hey Kanmani' in the Tovino-Keerthy Suresh starrer 'Vaashi' received this year's Young Voice award. Singer Shwetha Mohan gave away the award.

Best Debut

Evugin Emmanuel made his debut in Mollywood with the song 'Kaana Kuyile', composed by Deepak Dev for 'Bro Daddy'. Evugin received the Mazhavil Music award for the best debutant for the song. Playback singer Haricharan gave away the memento to the singer.

Best BGM

Composer Rahul Raj won the Best BGM award for his work in Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham.

Popular music director Rahul Raj received this year's 'Best BGM' award for his work in the Mohanlal-starrer 'Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham'. Singer Sharreth presented the award to the music director.

Best Non-Film Song

Govind Vasantha's 'Thonnal' won the best non-film song.

Singer, music composer and violinist Govind Vasantha, best known for his work in the hit movie '96', received this year's Mazhavil Music award for the non-film song 'Thonnal', sung by actress Ahaana Krishna.

Playback singer Benny Dayal presented the award to Govind.

Best Experimental Music

Music composer Vishnu Vijay, who works predominantly in Mollywood, received this year's award for the 'best experimental music' for his work in the blockbuster 'Thallumaala'. The award was presented to him by music director and playback singer Alphons Joseph.

Best Song of the Year

'Darshana', composed by Hesham Abdul Wahab for Vineeth Sreenivasan's 'Hridayam', was adjudged the 'Best Song of the Year'. The movie's producer Visakh Subramaniam, composer Hesham, Darshana Rajendran, who has both crooned the chartbuster and acted in it, and lyricist Arun Alat received the award. Actor Jayaram gave away the prize.

Best Music Director

The trendiest music director in the industry at the moment, Sushin Shyam, won this year's Mazhavil Music Award for 'Best Music Director' for his compositions in 'Malik', 'Bheeshma Parvam' and 'Kurup'. Singer K S Chithra gave away the award to the musician.

Best Singer (Male)

Vijay Yesudas received this year's award for crooning 'Mele Vaanil' for the movie 'Meppadiyan' and 'Neeyennoralil' from 'Paappan' directed by Joshiy. He received the award from P Jayachandran.

Best Singer (Female)

Sithara Krishnakumar, who is known for her powerful musical renditions, received the award for the song 'Paal Nilaavin', which she sang for the movie 'Kaanekkaane'. Singer Sujatha Mohan gave away the prize to Sithara.

Best Lyricist

This year's Mazhavil Music Award for the 'Best Lyricist' was given to Anwar Ali for the song 'Pakaliravukal' and 'Theerame' from the movies 'Kurup' and 'Malik', respectively. K S Chithra handed over the award to the lyricist.
