Actor-dancer Vineeth who was recently seen in 'Dominic and the Ladies' Purse' said it was Mammootty who suggested his name to Gautham Vasudev Menon for the role. The actor played a shady character in the Mammootty-Gautham Vasudev Menon film and delivered a brilliant performance as Prakash, who has a face-off with Dominic (Mammootty) in the film. The actor revealed he always wanted to work in a Gautham Vasudev Menon movie, which is why he said yes to the film immediately.
"The makers wanted popular faces to appear in short scenes in the film. It was Mammookka who suggested my name to Gautham Vasudev Menon (GVM). I have always wanted to be part of a GVM movie. I am quite particular about reading the entire script of the film before committing to a project, but it was different with 'Dominic and the Ladies' Purse.' The movie also excited me because it was my first time working under a Mammootty production," said the actor.
Vineeth, who is known for his interesting body of work and intense performances in a career spanning nearly 40 years, said he has no qualms about playing villain roles in movies as long as the characters excite him. He is also never worried about the limited screen time his characters get onscreen. "In Dominic and the Ladies' Purse, my character only appears in a few scenes, but I had plenty of opportunity to perform. In 'Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum' too, I may not have had plenty of screenspace, but that one emotional scene between Ummachi (Viji Venkatesh) and myself was enough to challenge me," he said.
He added that the makers kept the climax under wraps till the end and he was as shocked as the rest of the viewers after seeing the final act. "It was also interesting to watch Mammookka bring his signature style to Dominic's character. Mammookka has essayed several investigation officer roles, but he played Dominic differently," he said.
Vineeth, who is also busy running his dance school, has plenty of projects in his kitty and will soon be seen in the Tamil film 'Kaadhal Enbadhu Podhuudamai', opposite Rohini. The film revolves around conflicts and confrontations between people of two different generations, he said. In 'Dheeran', helmed by Devadath Shaji of 'Bheeshma Parvam' fame, Vineeth plays an intriguing character. He will be seen in a negative role in the Jeethu Joseph-backed web series 'Secret Stories: Roslin'. He will also play a prominent role in Jayasurya and Anushka Shetty-starrer 'Kathanar- The Wild Sorcerer', which is one of the most anticipated releases this year.
