It seems period dramas are the best bet for Telugu filmmakers. Of late, several big budget period dramas went on to become hits, keeping cash registers ringing. According to our sources, super star Mahesh Babu, who is busy shooting for his 25th film, has given nod for a period film, which will be directed by noted filmmaker Sukumar.

A little bird said Sukumar had been busy scripting a periodic drama after his last film Rangasthalam starring Ram Charan, Samantha Akkieni, Prakash Raj and Jagapathi Babu turned out to a huge hit. If the story of Rangasthalam was set in 1980, Sukumar’s new movie would tell a story during the early days of Indian Independence, sources said.
