Hollywood actor Sydney Sweeney, who rose to fame for portraying Cassie in HBO’s hit teen drama Euphoria, said that stepping back onto the show’s set for its third season felt like reuniting with family.
Since her breakout role, Sweeney has featured in several successful films, including Anyone but You, Echo Valley, and the recently released biopic Christy. Speaking to Variety at the AFI Fest premiere of Christy on Saturday, she revealed, “I wrap ‘Euphoria’ in two days.”
Reflecting on returning to the series after three years, Sweeney said, “It’s mostly the same crew, so it feels like I’m going home to family. I’ve grown up with them. I was 20 when I did the pilot, so being able to see a lot of the same people, it feels very comforting.”
According to HBO, the upcoming third season will mark the final chapter of the acclaimed drama. However, when asked if there could be a continuation, Sweeney responded, “I cannot confirm any information.” Her co-star Jacob Elordi also hinted at what fans can expect from the new season while attending the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles earlier this month.
In the previous season, which aired in 2022, Sweeney’s Cassie, Elordi’s Nate, and Alexa Demie’s Maddy were entangled in a turbulent love triangle. The series, led by Zendaya, earned critical acclaim for its raw storytelling and striking visuals.
Sweeney’s next project is The Housemaid, in which she stars alongside Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar.
