Basil Joseph, who has been delivering consecutive hits and winning hearts, continues to be celebrated as one of the industry’s favourite stars. At the press meet for his latest film, 'Pravinkoodu Shappu', the actor addressed the frequent comparisons made between him and actor Dileep.
With his growing box office success, Basil has earned the title of a 'people’s favourite.' While he appreciates the audience's love, he emphasises the importance of carving out his own path, even as comparisons are drawn to Dileep, famously known as the 'Janapriya Nayakan,' meaning the people's favourite actor.
"Dileep has a style that’s entirely his own. He built his legacy through the films we grew up watching," Basil said. "I feel grateful that people like me, but I want to establish my own identity. His legacy is something he created single-handedly, and I’m not interested in being compared to that."
Basil’s latest release, 'Pravinkoodu Shappu', features Soubin Shahir and Chemban Vinod Jose in key roles. Directed by newcomer Sreeraj Sreenivasan and produced under Anwar Rasheed Entertainments, the film adds another promising chapter to Basil’s growing career.
