Director Gautham Vasudev Menon whose Malayalam movie 'Dominic and the Ladies' Purse' is gearing up for release said no one from the film industry supported him when he went through a difficult situation in his career. He was referring to his unreleased Tamil spy film 'Dhruva Natchathiram' starring Vikram. Though the movie was announced initially with Suriya in the lead in 2013, Vikram was later cast as the film's lead owing to differences between Gautham and Suriya. However, financial constraints and other post-production works further delayed the project.
Gautham also said no one from the industry 'bothered' to find out the real reason and issues behind the delay of the film. In his interview with Madan Gowri, he also revealed there is no one in the industry who he can turn to in times of need.
“That is the truth. I am not trying to make a statement here. But when DN (Dhruva Natchathiram) did not release, nobody called. Nobody even bothered to find out whats happening. Nobody even knows the issue,” he told Madan. “Noone is happy when a film goes well. I sound cynical and negative but this is the truth. Nobody really cares. I have shown the film to a few studios. When the studios check with the people here, they ask them to not take the film as it has issues, when it has none,” he said. Gautham's Mollywood film features Mammootty in the lead and will hit theatres on January 23.
