Amid the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles causing significant damage, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has made changes to the Oscars schedule.
The voting period, which began on January 8 and was originally set to close on January 12, has been extended by two days to January 14. Additionally, the announcement of the nominations, initially planned for January 17, will now take place on January 19.

The Palisades Fire, located near Malibu and Santa Monica, has already destroyed over 1,000 structures, making it one of the most destructive wildfires in Los Angeles County’s history. These changes aim to provide flexibility for Academy members during this challenging situation.
