Unni Mukundan’s 'Marco', directed by Haneef Adeni, has made history by becoming the first Malayalam film to enter the coveted 100 crore club in 2025. The crew revealed that the movie has amassed a global collection of Rs 100 crore. This marks Unni Mukundan's second film to achieve this feat, after 'Malikappuram', which was released in 2022. The makers are thrilled to see the movie’s Malayalam, Tamil, and Hindi versions running successfully across India.
'Marco', written and directed by Haneef Adeni and produced by Shereef Muhammad under the banner of Cubes Entertainment, was theatrically released across Kerala on December 20. Promoted as the most violent Indian film, it received an A certification from the Censor Board and has been compared to Bollywood action flicks like 'Animal' and 'Kill'. Despite the A rating, 'Marco' has managed to draw audiences to theatres.
In addition to Malayalam, 'Marco' was released globally in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. The film is distributed by Cubes Entertainment, making them the first production company in Malayalam to distribute their debut production venture. This highlights the producer's strong faith and confidence in the movie's production quality. 'Marco', which is Unni Mukundan’s biggest career milestone, has been receiving overwhelming responses across all languages.
In the film, Unni Mukundan appears in a sleek gangster avatar, and audiences have praised his swag and high-octane action sequences. Veteran actors Jagadeesh and Siddique also impress with their performances. The intense mass scenes and gore were choreographed by noted action director Kalai Kingston.
Along with Unni Mukundan, Jagadeesh, and Siddique, 'Marco' features Anson Paul, Kabir Duhan Singh (famous for 'Turbo'), Abhimanyu Thilakan, Yukti Thareja, and several other Bollywood stars and newcomers, all contributing to a movie that pushes the boundaries of violence.
