Demi Moore made history at this year’s Golden Globes, claiming her first major acting award and marking a milestone in her illustrious career. The acclaimed actress not only had the honour of presenting an award but also took one home herself, winning the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. Overwhelmed with emotion, Demi couldn’t hold back her tears as she accepted the prestigious honour.
In her acceptance speech, she shared, “I really wasn’t expecting that. I’m just in shock right now! I’ve been doing this for over 45 years, and this is the first time I’ve ever won anything as an actor. I’m just so humbled and so grateful.” Demi’s win marked a turning point in her career, a moment that reflected her dedication and resilience.
The actress also reflected on the challenges she faced along the way, recalling how, 30 years ago, a producer had once told her she was 'a popcorn actress'. She admitted, “At that time, I made that mean that this wasn’t something I was allowed to have, that I could do movies that were successful and made a lot of money… That corroded me for a time.”
Demi also looked back at a pivotal moment in her life when she felt like she had already accomplished everything she was 'supposed to do'. However, everything changed when she received the 'courageous' and 'bonkers script' for The Substance. The project pulled her out of a low point in her life, reigniting her passion and drive in ways she hadn’t expected.
