Unni Mukundan's ‘Marco’ is storming both the Malayalam and Hindi box offices. Following an overwhelming response in Malayalam, the Hindi version began with a modest release across 34 screens but rapidly expanded to 350 screens in its second week due to high demand.
Director Ram Gopal Varma also joined the chorus of praise for the film. Taking to social media, he wrote, “Never heard MORE SHOCKING PRAISE for ANY FILM more than #Marco film.. DYING TO SEE IT, and I hope I too won’t get killed by Unni Mukundan.”
Produced by Shareef Mohammed under the Cubes Entertainment banner, ‘Marco’ is an action thriller written and directed by Haneef Adeni. The film’s Hindi version experienced a surge in screenings and additional shows due to its massive popularity among audiences.
Within just a week of its release, ‘Marco’ has grossed Rs 50 crore globally. It has also emerged as the highest-grossing Malayalam film in North India, with many industry trackers predicting that it could surpass Rs 100 crore in the coming days. The film also marks the biggest opening collection of Unni Mukundan’s career, solidifying its place as a milestone in his journey.
As an A-rated action thriller, ‘Marco’ has sparked conversations nationwide for its bold and intense sequences. Its success has drawn comparisons to Hindi action film ‘Kill,’ which earned Rs 47 crore in its lifetime collection—a figure ‘Marco’ surpassed within just five days.
The buzz around ‘Marco’ isn’t limited to its current versions. Tamil and Telugu adaptations are set to release soon, with the Telugu version arriving on January 1 and the Tamil version following on January 3.
