The International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) 2024 is set to captivate cinephiles with its stellar lineup of competition films. Scheduled from December 14 to December 18, these films in the competition category promise a rich tapestry of stories spanning diverse cultures, genres, and perspectives. From thought-provoking dramas to visually stunning narratives, the competition section features 14 remarkable films by visionary filmmakers from around the globe.

Among the selected films are An Oscillating Shadow (Chile), directed by Celeste Rojas Mugica; East of Noon (Egypt), directed by Hala Elkoussy; Elbow (Turkey), directed by Asli Özarslan; Malu (Brazil), directed by Pedro Freire; Me, Maryam, the Children and 26 Others (Iran), directed by Farshad Hashemi; Memories of a Burning Body (Costa Rica), directed by Antonella Sudasassi Furniss; Notary of Souls (Brazil), directed by Leo Bello; The Hyperboreans (Chile), directed by Cristóbal León and Joaquín Cociña; Underground Orange (Argentina), directed by Michael Taylor Jackson; and Who Do I Belong To (Tunisia), directed by Meryam Joobeur. The Rhythm of Dammam, a Konkani/Kannada film by Jayan Cherian, and Body, a Hindi film by Abhijit Mazumdar, are the Indian entries in the competition. Also included are Feminist Fathima by Fasil Muhammed and Appuram by Indu Lakshmi, which represent Malayalam cinema in the International Competition section.

A committee chaired by renowned film critic PK Surendran, along with filmmakers Shruthi Sharanyam and Arun Karthik, screenwriter Sajeev Pazhoor, and film society activist Reji M Damodaran, made the selection.
