The Mohanlal-starrer 'Lucifer' has hit the screens on Thursday and has received a massive opening at the box office. Going by the morning shows on Thursday, the Prithviraj directorial has reportedly collected a big amount from Kerala alone. However, the makers have not yet released the exact numbers officially.
According to trade pundits, 'Lucifer' collected Rs 15.12 lakh with 41 shows and 99.9% occupancy from Kochi multiplexes. From Thiruvananthapuram plexes, it collected Rs 22.11 lakh with 59 shows and 99.98% occupancy.
With huge demands, reports suggests that about 100 special late-night shows for 'Lucifer' in Kerala were added after 11.45 pm.
Interestingly, the movie marked an all-time record in US box office with gross $43,075 (Rs 29.8 lakh).
Comparatively, the Hindi version of Rajinikanth’s last film ‘2.0’ had raked in an impressive Rs 23 crore on the day of its release last year on November 29, trade experts had said. Its original in Tamil reportedly fetched Rs 2.64 crore from Chennai city theatres alone on the same day!
'Lucifer' was released in UAE-GCC on Thursday and opened in 744 screens, the highest one for any Malayalam film.
It will be released in Bangalore on Friday and is expected to make a record going by the advance booking.
Also starring Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Vivek Oberoi, 'Lucifer' is produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.
