Malayalam movie lovers can’t easily forget the selfish Pooja from the 2006 movie 'Notebook' directed by Rosshan Andrrews. On screen, Parvathy’s character doesn’t hesitate to betray her best friend. However, in real life, Parvathy is definitely not someone who would leave her friend who had been assaulted. She has always supported her friend and never even once gave up fearing backlash.
The award-winning actress, who confesses that she can’t act in real life, has always stood by her opinions and strong stands. Parvathy never shied away from calling out the misogynistic tendencies in the Malayalam cinema. Parvathy had faced vitriolic attacks on social media for courageously naming a movie for its blatant misogyny. Instead of panicking, the actress kept her cool and decided to take on her abusers in the legal way.
Parvathy has offered her unwavering support to the attacked actress and continues her association with the Women in Cinema Collective even at the risk of jeopardising her career.
In a recent interview, the actress disclosed that there has been a significant drop in the number of roles that are being offered to her. Besides, she added that other artists in the industry are restricted from even talking to WCC members.
The actress has, many a times, wowed the audience with her incredible performances on screen. She had seamlessly transformed into Sera, Sameera or Kanchanamala, and stunned the audience with her acting prowess. She has proved her mettle not only in Malayalam cinema but also in Tamil, Kannada and even Hindi. She has many awards to her credit including the Kerala state award for the best actress, which she won twice.
The Mollywood movie lovers admire Parvathy as much as they have appreciated actresses like Manju Warrier, Meera Jasmine and Samyukta Varma for their acting abilities.
Now, three Malayalam movies have been announced with Parvathy in the lead role. She will reportedly be playing an acid attack victim in a movie directed by Manu Asokan. The screenplay of this movie is prepared by the superhit screenwriter duo Bobby and Sanjay.
Parvathy will essay the lead role in 'Autorickshawkarante Bharya' which is directed by Harikumar and written by the renowned writer M Mukundan. She would be playing nurse Lini, who lost her life after taking care of Nipah victim, in the Aashiq Abu directorial 'Virus'.
Parvathy was last seen in Anjaly Menon’s blockbuster movie 'Koode'.
