Amid the row over inviting actor Mohanlal as the chief guest of Kerala Film Awards function, Chalachithra Academy chairman and director Kamal said no official invite has been made to the actor in this regard.

“Mohanlal has not been officially invited as the chief guest of Kerala Film Awards ceremony”, Kamal said.

Kamal revealed that government has not made an official announcement regarding the same. “It is true that in the committee meeting, the government had announced that Mohanlal will be asked to be the chief guest. But I am not aware if Mohanlal has received an official invitation for that so far. The decision is ultimately take by the government only”, he said.

Earlier, on Monday, 105 celebs from film fraternity had signed a mass petition insisting that the chief minister should hand over the awards at a simple event. The plea, which didn't refer to Mohanal by name, suggested that a chief guest is not necessary to grace the event.

The Kerala Film Award ceremony is slated to be held on August 8.
