Kochi: The High Court has directed the government to implement reservation for transgender individuals in educational institutions and government services within six months.

Citing the Supreme Court's order in the National Legal Services Authority case, the Division Bench, consisting of Justice A Muhammad Mushtaq and Justice P Krishnakumar, emphasised that the government cannot delay the implementation of rights for the transgender community.

The court issued this directive while hearing a petition filed by C Kabeer and Aneera Kabeer, who sought reservation for the transgender community in both education and government employment. The bench highlighted the importance of acting on the Supreme Court's order in this matter.
